Bring your dive log
The dives you have logged elsewhere can come with you. Find where your dives are now, and follow the steps.
Where it starts in the app: tap the waves button at the top right, then Log Dives. There you can Download over Bluetooth, Import from File or Log a Dive.
Importing the same dives again is safe: dives already in your log are skipped or filled in, never doubled. Dives away from home are grouped into trips for you.
- From your dive computer
- Garmin
- Suunto
- Shearwater Cloud
- Subsurface
- MacDive and other dive logs
- A paper logbook

From your dive computer
Many computers keep hundreds of dives in their memory, so downloading may bring your whole history.
- Turn on Bluetooth in your computer's menu.
- In the app, Log Dives, then Download over Bluetooth, and choose your computer.
- The dives already in your log start unselected. Choose the ones you want and tap Download.
Over Bluetooth, the app works with:
- Shearwater computers with Bluetooth.
- Suunto EON Steel, EON Steel Black, EON Core and D5.
- Oceanic Pro Plus X, Pro Plus 4, Geo 4.0, Veo 4.0 and Geo Air.
- Aqua Lung i200C, i300C, i470TC, i550C, i750TC and i770R.
- Sherwood Sage, Wisdom 4 and Beacon.
Another computer, or dives your computer no longer holds? Bring them from the app or log you used with it, below.
Garmin (Descent)
A few dives: in the Garmin Connect app, open a dive, tap Share, and choose DiveDiveDive. The dive opens straight in the app.
Your whole history: ask Garmin for a copy of your data.
- On a computer, sign in to your Garmin account at garmin.com/account/datamanagement, choose Export Your Data, then Request Data Export.
- Garmin emails a download link, usually within a couple of days. Download the zip file.
- Unzip it. Your activities are in the folder DI_CONNECT, then DI-Connect-Uploaded-Files, inside more zip files: unzip those too. Each activity is a .fit file.
- Put the .fit files where your iPhone can reach them (see below), then Log Dives, Import from File, and select them. You can select many at once.
Garmin's export holds every activity, not just dives. That's fine: the app keeps the dives and leaves out runs, rides and the rest.
Suunto
EON Steel, EON Core and D5: download straight from the computer over Bluetooth (above).
From the Suunto app: open a dive and export it as a FIT file, then share it to DiveDiveDive. For all your dives at once, Suunto can send a copy of your data from the Suunto app's account settings; it arrives as a zip file with a .fit file for each activity. Unzip it and import the files as for Garmin.
Suunto's FIT files may leave out tank pressure, so those dives can come in without it. Downloading over Bluetooth keeps it.
Shearwater Cloud
Shearwater computers keep their log, so downloading over Bluetooth is usually easiest. To bring everything from Shearwater Cloud instead, including dives from computers you no longer have:
- Export your Shearwater Cloud database. On a Mac or PC, Shearwater Cloud's File menu has Export Database. In the Shearwater Cloud app on your phone, export the database from your profile menu and save it to Files.
- If you get a zip file, open it in Files to unzip it.
- In DiveDiveDive, Log Dives, then Import from File, and choose the .db file.
Subsurface
- In Subsurface on your Mac or PC, export your log as UDDF (in the File menu, Export; to export only some dives, select them first).
- Open the .uddf file on your iPhone and share it to DiveDiveDive, or use Log Dives, then Import from File.
MacDive and other dive logs
Most dive log apps can export UDDF, the standard file for dive logs: MacDive, Diving Log, divelogs.de and others. Look for UDDF in the app's export options, export everything, and import the .uddf file as for Subsurface.
Sites, buddies, notes and gas come along when the file has them.
A paper logbook
Use Log a Dive for each dive: the date, the site, the depth and the time are enough to start. Add buddies, conditions and notes whenever you like.
Getting a file onto your iPhone
- From a Mac: AirDrop the files to your iPhone, or put them in iCloud Drive.
- From a PC: put them in iCloud Drive, or email them to yourself.
- A zip file: open it in the Files app and it unzips next to itself.
- FIT and UDDF files can be shared straight to DiveDiveDive from Files, Mail or another app. A Shearwater .db file goes through Import from File.
